Aesthetics By Dr Jemma
Since leaving the NHS to fully dedicate himself to Aesthetic Medicine, Dr Alex Parys has strived to build a practice based around the core values of maximising patient safety and keeping the patient as the centre of care.
As a result, over the past year he has set up an educational scheme for A&E doctors based around recognising and managing dermal filler complications, been appointed as a trainer by HA Derma, and authored a chapter for an aesthetic textbook. He is currently working with colleagues internationally on a project regarding his use of ultrasound in aesthetic treatments, and how this could be used to promote safety, enhance training, and as an aid in complication management.
My ethos in aesthetic medicine is to respect the medical aspect of the subject, its dangers and the patients' individual anatomy, appearance and psychological wellbeing, while carrying out caring treatment in an empathetic and extremely honest manner.
I have pledged a commitment to the field of aesthetic medicine - in the form of time, effort, professionalism, expense and energy - as it is where my passion truly lies.
I wish to use all of the experience and resources that have been made available to me during my undergraduate days and career in dentistry to assist in the shift toward further professionalism in aesthetic medicine, along with focusing my own career towards the subject.
I aim to change the general perception of the public with regards to aesthetic medicine in order to make it accessible to all - regardless of age, gender or race - whilst removing any stigma attached to the field. I wish to educate the public that their appearance can be improved without having to look ‘fake’, whilst maintaining safety and a medical approach above all cost.
Within the last year I have progressed my training to a higher level, have started several clinics and and have become incredibly passionate about the aesthetics industry. My vision is to be involved in improving the profession for practitioners as a whole, which currently takes its form in research work investigating guidelines for better complication management and increasing practitioners awareness of important structures in facial anatomy. I hope to help facilitate a supportive network within the industry, enabling all fellow practitioners feel part of a community, working together to provide the best possible treatments for our patients.
Alice volunteered to work on the COVID-19 Nightingale Ward of the NHS Chelsea & Westminster hospital which she discussed in the Aesthetics Journal, May 2020. Followed by a case study discussing identifying dermal filler nodules, granulomas and infections complications published in the Aesthetics Journal, June 2020.
Alice was invited to Dubai to discuss Aesthetic treatments with ‘Dubai Eye’ whilst promoting the ethics and safety in treating clients particularly with dermal filler injectable procedures.
Alice became a Key Opinion Leader for Venn Healthcare. This came after she was finalist for Aesthetic Nurse of the Year Safety and Beauty Awards 2019.
Alice supports the private member’s bill ‘Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) and the JCCP’s move to make dermal filler a prescription medicine.
She is also part of a new initiative started by qualified nurses to found a college of nurses practicing in aesthetic medicine in the UK. This organisation will have a focus on training and CPD via digital platforms.
I’m Ana, the resident aesthetic doctor at the multi-speciality cosmetic clinic Kat & Co Aesthetics in Edgbaston Birmingham. I spend most of my time offering a vast range of aesthetic treatments as well as manage the non-surgical services at the clinic.
I am a relatively recent addition to the aesthetic community with4 years of experience. My ethos is to provide holistic multi-modality treatments to boost my patients' confidence and my signature approach is a light-handed approach to achieve the most natural and seamless enhancements.
I am also passionate about quality assurance and patient safety which is the reason I dedicate a lot of my time to clinical governance at our CQC registered clinic. I love sharing my experiences with collages and therefore spend some of my weekends teaching injectables with the fantastic team at CosmeticCourses.
It is quite out of character for me to apply to any award however, over the past few months and years I have done my utmost in retraining into the fantastic profession which is aesthetic medicine. I must admit, with the support of some extraordinary mentors, I have been relentless in striving towards clinical excellence since being fortunate enough to join this profession. I am very proud of my contributions to my local community of patients.
I personally had an awful experience that really knocked my confidence. It has taken several years to rectify the unpleasing results and to regain my confidence. This was the point that led me in the direction of an aesthetics career. I have taken every opportunity to better my knowledge and skills and made a conscious effort to greatly contribute to the industry. This includes not only for medical professionals but also individuals interested in treatment or worried about treatment received elsewhere. I made a promise to myself to not allow any patient to feel how I did post-treatment. I have become an authoritative figure on Google with educational blogs and videos which are Ranked Number 1 and read by thousands. I consult many patients throughout the UK and advise them of their options allowing them to regain confidence. Patients find me from my Youtube videos addressing issues in aesthetics such as migration, overfilling etc, and often travel distances to attend my clinic. I often treat individuals that have had aberrant treatment elsewhere, with a knock on their confidence and self-esteem. With these particular cases, I do not profit financially. It has taken many highs but greater lows to get to the stage I am at now. It is only now that the foundations have set that I am able to enjoy my work, my patients, and my clinic and I couldn't imagine It any other way. Today I take great pride in being not only an educator for an Aesthetic Growth Academy but also leading monthly video meetings with relevant aesthetic cases for a CPD group with Aesthetic Medical Practitioners.
I have already taken important steps towards achieving this goal in my 4 years of practice. These include the establishment of Interface Aesthetics, writing CPD articles for Aesthetics Journal , creating a unique e-learning resource for healthcare professionals, campaigning for safety and better regulation publicly including as part of Allergan Spark Talks, publishing and presenting academically on regulation and complications in aesthetics, and importantly, pursuing my non-surgical career on equal terms with my NHS facial surgery career.
I have simultaneously achieved the above while studying dentistry full-time as part of my NHS training, working on-call in facial surgery dealing with facial trauma patients, running and growing my private aesthetic practice, and developing professionally through training in areas such as rhinoplasty and fat dissolving. My enthusiasm for this important and fascinating profession grows by the day, and I enjoy moving closer to achieving my goals through work, study and collaboration.
The recurrent themes and core values thorough out my medical aesthetics career thus far have centred on professionalism, safety and education. Since my initial training in December 2015 I have continually pushed to establish the best practice in medical aesthetics through personal growth and development and my dedication to developing the aesthetics sector as a whole through my contributions to following:
In my personal practice, with the opening of my Aesthetic Clinic earlier this year, I aim to continue to strive to deliver the highest quality of experience, support and outcomes for my loyal clients in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

I am extremely passionate about skincare and Aesthetics.
Over the past few years I have worked very hard to continuously develop my skills and further my knowledge in the field of Aesthetics in order to deliver the best treatments results I am able to.
Getting to where I am today, in a very male dominated career, I feel honoured and privileged to be able to inspire young girls, women and men, particularly from ethnic minorities and of colour to dream big, work hard and aim high.
The field of Aesthetics is constantly evolving and I believe nothing can limit anyone from achieving their dreams as long as they are focused and determined to succeed.
No man is an island and I'm incredibly grateful to each and every individual who has supported me and been a part of my journey to where I am today.
I look forward to continually developing myself on a personal and professional level and am excited to see what my future career has in store for me as an Aesthetic doctor.
I have learned a great deal in 3 years practicing aesthetic medicine and have been very fortunate to have some fantastic mentors. I have moved from ad hoc work to having a permanent place, as well as working for renowned aesthetic medicine clinics. In the last 12 months our business has continued to grow, and I work extremely hard to provide a safe and enhanced patient journey.
I am passionate about teaching and mentoring, and have been training medical professionals in aesthetic medicine as well as creating a positive support group for my colleagues.
I have had some great opportunities to present at some of the annual conferences and have had 2 publications in aesthetic journals so far. I received ‘Highly Commended’ at two award ceremonies which have both been very proud moments. Completing the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Therapies was a great experience, and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow throughout my career in aesthetic medicine. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the Aesthetic Awards.
I decided to leave clinical dentistry in 2019 and pursue a full time career in Aesthetics, which was the best decision I ever made.
I have established a clinic with integrity, honesty, and commitment to excellence in every aspect. I keep patients at the heart of my care and always ensure they leave feeling happy, confident, and looking like their best selves. My aim is to hero each person’s unique beauty by championing the ‘tweakment’.
I am privileged to be a trainer for Acquisition Aesthetics and to have an active role in shaping the future of budding aesthetic practitioners.
I feel the sky is the limit in aesthetics, and the industry is full of positive energy to help practitioners like myself fulfil their potential.
For me, a career in aesthetics is a dream come true. I believe the joy and happiness it brings allows me to flourish as a clinician, teacher, and hopefully one day industry leader. I hope to be at the forefront of positive change and growth within aesthetics.
My Name is Nina. I am an experienced Independent Nurse Prescriber and have been practising Aesthetics full-time for over 3 years. I am blessed to be in a profession I love but I am also keen to share my acquired skills, enthusiasm, ambition and drive with like-minded individuals in the industry; I believe strongly that we need to share knowledge, foster kindness and help mentor others.
My unique approach and results are heavily influenced by my artistic background and my personal philosophy leans heavily on the importance of artistic appreciation as well as focussing on the patient experience. I am honoured to be an Ambassador for the Allergan Spark programme where I have lectured on the nuances and importance of the patient journey in Aesthetic Practice.
I have held senior clinical (Advanced Nurse Practitioner ANP), teaching and managerial roles within the NHS (in critical care and A&E) and have used this collective knowledge to set up and manage my own dedicated (and award-winning) Aesthetics Clinic in Truro (Update Aesthetics). In a short space of time we are now a Top Tier Allergan account and the busiest aesthetics clinic in the South West.
I have published in Aesthetics journal, been invited to lecture internationally and have won the South West Award for Best Cosmetic Injector. My reputation and results have also led to a thriving Harley Street practice as part of the Banwell Collective where patients travel from all over the country. My latest venture is an exciting partnership with Mr Paul Banwell, Consultant Plastic Surgeon to teach the next generation of aesthetic practitioners. The Banwell.Prisk School of Aesthetic Medicine.
