The AestheticSource Award for Nurse Practitioner of the Year

This Award will recognise the medical aesthetic nurse in the UK or Ireland who is deemed to have contributed most to the profession and/or has provided the most outstanding care and treatment to their patients in the last 12 months. The Winner will be judged on their clinical expertise, continuous professional development, commitment to patient safety and the difference they make to their patients, clinic and the profession as a whole. This category is only open to nurses with more than five years’ demonstrable experience of working in the aesthetic specialty. For those with less than five years’ experience, please enter the Rising Star of the Year category.

The Winner will be selected by The Aesthetics Awards judges, and there will be no voting element for this category.

This Award will recognise the doctor, dentist or nurse in the UK or Ireland who is deemed to have contributed most to the profession and/or has provided the most outstanding care and treatment to their patients in the last 12 months. This Award intends to recognise an emerging leader deemed as having the potential to become a future leader in their industry. The Winner will be judged on their clinical expertise, continuous professional development, commitment to patient safety and the difference they make to their patients and clinic. They will also be assessed on what they are beginning to do to improve the profession as a whole.

Practitioners may enter this category year on year, as long as they have been practising aesthetic medicine for less than five years at the time of application. Those with more than five years of experience should enter the Nurse or Medical Practitioner categories. Consultant surgeons are not applicable to enter this category and should enter the Consultant Surgeon category.

The Winner will be selected byTthe Aesthetics Awards judges, and there will be no voting element for this category.

Once confident and taking pride in her appearance, patient was in psychologically abusive relationship for years, and after ending it was feeling old, tired and depressed, not wanting to leave the house. Persuaded by her daughter to try facial aesthetics, patient was sceptical at first, but cooperated well and followed all the aftercare advice. After Botulinum toxin injections and a course of skin tightening treatments, patient showed great improvement. This was followed by face contouring with dermal fillers. Results are fantastic, and patient has gained all her confidence back.

Many practitioners dread treating the notoriously difficult M-shaped lip, or have been unable to meet the expectations of their patients. There is limited literature on this type of lip and little guidance on how to treat them effectively. In this case, I have successfully treated a difficult M shape lip using a systematic and progressive treatment approach over four visits spaced out over two years. I have slowly worked towards correcting the M shape, as well as improving the ratio between the upper and lower lip. The result is an improvement in shape, volume and overall balance.

I present the results of a recent very successful rhinoplasty involving somewhat thick overlying skin and soft tissues, combined with a challenging combination of goals. Surgical steps included a classic hump reduction plus tip rotation along with slimming of the tip and an alar base reduction. This was combined with a septoplasty to help straighten an underlying right sided deviation. Besides his surgical career Lorenzo also completed a 4 year, level 7 Aesthetic & Wellness Medicine Postgraduate Diploma all at the same time as qualifying as a surgeon in 2005.
